There is a lot of misinformation that is passed around the lawn and garden
business. Often times it is folklore or home remedies that seem to find
there way into our conversations.
At ChemPro, we try to educate customers as we service their properties.
Personally, I have been in the "green industry" for 15 years. My
background is balanced between all facets of landscaping, maintenance,
irrigation, chemicals, hardscaping and lighting. I was General Manager of
one of the largest companies in the panhandle. We performed services from
$25 to $1 million dollars all over the Southeast.
I am a Certified Landscape Professional with the largest green industry
trade organization in the country. I am also a Certified Chemical Operator
in the State of Florida. I have diligently studied to be a professional in
what often times is not a professional industry. More than 90% of lawn
maintenance and landscape contractors are NOT licensed chemical operators.
The State has rigorous standards for chemical operators. Many people are
operating with a limited applicators license. This does not allow them to
treat any part of your turf. Not even fertilizer.
I am required to obtain state mandated CEU's each year and I attend
seminars and training throughout the year, so that I can better serve you
the customer.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to be a chemical operator because of
the environmental issues we face in the State of Florida. As storms
continue to brew, we are seeing an increase of noxious weeds that are new
and more numerous. We are working with the University of Florida and the
County Extension Agents to find effective solutions to the problems as
they arise. Unfortunately, there are not chemicals for every problem.
